Session High / Low node on the canvas

Running high / low within a selected FX session.

Session High / Low tracks the running highest high and lowest low within a chosen trading session — Asia, London, New York, or the whole day. These session extremes are magnets for liquidity: the Asian range high and low, in particular, are levels that London and New York traders deliberately target and sweep. Plotting them turns "where did this session peak and trough?" into two live lines you can trade against.

How it works

The block accumulates the high and low within the selected Session (asia, london, newyork, or day) as the session progresses, plotting a rising Session High line and a falling Session Low line on the price pane. They expand as the session makes new extremes and reset when the next session begins. The most common use is the previous session's range as a reference for the current one — e.g. trading the London session against the Asian high/low.

When to use it

Use Session High / Low for session-based breakout and liquidity strategies. The Asian range is the classic: its high and low hold stops and breakout orders, so London often sweeps one side (a Liquidity Sweep) before reversing, or breaks and runs. Trade the break-and-hold of a session extreme as a breakout, or fade a sweep of it back into the range. It pairs naturally with a Session Filter (to act only in the right session) and with structure tools for confluence.

Example

Session High / Low on the EURUSD H1 chart

Session High / Low on EURUSD · H1

An Asian-range sweep reversal: wire bars into Session High / Low set to asia to mark the overnight range, then during London look for price to sweep the session low and reverse — combine the sweep with a bullish trigger into a Buy Signal, gated by a Session Filter on london. Backtest in the Tester.

Tips & gotchas

  • Session extremes hold liquidity — the Asian high/low especially are sweep targets.
  • Use the prior session's range as a reference for the current one.
  • Pair with a Session Filter so you act in the intended session.
  • Sweep-and-reverse vs break-and-run are the two opposing plays — structure tells you which.
